ETHOS

This ongoing series focuses on line and form, stripped of excess, revealing the underlying structure of the work while setting color aside to emphasize simplicity, softness, and restraint. Begun during the COVID period and continuing today, it reflects an honest inquiry into authenticity and change, one that has resonated with viewers and collectors through its subtle play of light, refined textures, and enduring sense of presence.

This series is defined by a deliberate focus on line and form, stripped of excess. By revealing underlying structure and setting color aside, the work emphasizes the elegance of simplicity and the enduring foundations of drawing, volume, and beauty that have always anchored my practice.

Created during the COVID period, the works emerged at a time when the familiar was suddenly removed from daily life and uncertainty became a shared condition. As color, often associated with joy, light, and vitality, seemed to recede from our collective experience, I chose to withhold it, reflecting the emotional and psychological atmosphere of that moment. This was not an act of negation, but of inquiry: an honest regression that arrived abruptly and demanded clarity. The series marked the beginning of an ongoing exploration into authenticity, change, and our evolving relationships with ourselves, one another, and the larger forces shaping an ever-shifting world.

In the post-COVID period, this exploration has continued and deepened. Viewers and collectors have responded to the softness of the surfaces, the subtle play of light, and the quality of line and texture, elements that speak to the enduring structure of the work rather than its historical moment. This sustained resonance affirms a central conviction of my practice: that when form and restraint are held with care, the authenticity of a painting endures, offering a quiet presence that remains relevant beyond circumstance.
