Studio
And
Practice

On craft, discipline, and the
act of making

I paint because it is how I make sense of the world, through colour, movement, and the physical act of making.

The studio is a place of focus and calm, where time slows, and attention deepens. What I value most about painting is the discipline it demands: showing up, working through uncertainty, and allowing the work to reveal itself through patience rather than force.

My work lives between abstraction and structure, guided by instinct but grounded in craft. Each painting is built through layers of gesture, revision, and careful decision-making. I’m drawn to the tension between control and freedom, that moment when a painting begins to breathe on its own. That moment is never rushed. It’s earned.

Flowers have become a recurring subject in my work because they are both universal and deeply personal. They belong to everyone. Across cultures and histories, flowers mark our most meaningful moments. Celebration, loss, love, remembrance. They are timeless, accessible, and rooted in nature, yet endlessly complex. For me, they offer a way to explore beauty without sentimentality and emotion without excess.

Rather than depicting flowers literally, I approach them as a structure, an architecture of color, rhythm, and form. They allow me to work intuitively while remaining connected to something elemental and familiar. In this way, the paintings are not about flowers alone, but about presence, attention, and the quiet power of things that endure.

All of my paintings are original works, created by hand, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, material quality, and longevity. I make art for those who value authenticity, thoughtful process, and the experience of living with a painting over time. My hope is that the work feels alive in its space, that it's something you return to, rather than pass by.
